- Drum Axle: This refers to the spool designed for winding steel cables or ropes. Once the handle is rotated, the drive axle and drum axle spin at the same time—this rotation in turn makes the drum rotate too.
- Drive Axle: To operate the winch, you turn the handle, which sets the central drive axle in rotation. The axle then transfers this motion to the locking mechanism and gears; these components then drive the drum, enabling it to spool the cable.
- Load Hook: Connected to the cable, the load hook is used to fasten securely to the object that needs to be moved or pulled.
- Ratchet Switch Pawl & Brake: The ratchet switch pawl can be adjusted to either an upward or downward position, where it engages with the gear on the drive axle. When set to the upward position, the winch is able to wind the cable and pull or move an object. On the other hand, positioning the pawl downward allows the cable to be unwound.
- Crank Handle: This is the component used for manual operation, allowing users to pull loads or release them as needed.
- Mounting Base: Its function is to fix the winch firmly to a surface or a vehicle.
