In today’s logistics and warehousing, the hand pallet truck is a staple for material handling. It’s valued for being simple to use, reliable, and budget-friendly, making it key for moving goods short distances in warehouses, factories, supermarkets, and other workplaces.

Hand Pallet Truck: Basic Definition & Core Components

A hand pallet truck is a manually operated device designed specifically for lifting and moving palletized loads. Its structure is composed of four key components, each with a distinct function:

Handle

  • Serves as the control center for the entire device. It is used for steering the direction of the truck and activating the hydraulic pump to adjust the fork height.

Hydraulic Pump

  • The core power component. It is triggered by repeatedly pressing the handle up and down, which generates hydraulic pressure to raise the fork arms or release pressure to lower them.

Fork Arms

  • The load-bearing part of the truck. These long, flat arms slide into the gaps at the base of a pallet, directly supporting the weight of the palletized load during movement.

Wheels

  • Include both front and rear wheels, enabling smooth movement of the truck. Common materials for wheels are nylon, PU (polyurethane), and rubber, with the choice depending on the usage environment (e.g., smooth floors vs. rough surfaces).
